Associate Directors is an independent production company based in Belgium, with offices in Antwerp and Brussels. Associate Directors focuses on (co)-producing creative documentaries for an international audience. The productions concentrate on social relevant issues and cultural in-depth stories. Started in 1991, today the company combines the filmmaking experience of Mark Daems, Jan Lapeire and Bram Crols.

Associate Directors brings together established and new talent on the cure for innovative ideas. Through the film making process, Associate Directors established good intense working relations with many funding bodies, public and commercial broadcasters, and distribution opportunities among others.

Associate Directors is an active member of European Documentary Network (EDN). Producer Mark Daems is the EDN national contact person.

Klara Van Es received support from the Flanders Audiovisual Fund for script development. She is researching a new documentary with the working title ‘Carnotstraat 17’, about migration and identity.

Lost Down Memory Lane has reached over 20 000 theatrical visitors in Flanders, which is a breaking record for a Flemish Documentary. Screenings are still being programmed, so numbers will still increase.

The King of Mont Ventoux and Forbidden Pilgrimage, two projects in development, are making large steps forward. Forbidden Pilgrimage has been selected for the pitching Forum in Thessaloniki and The King of Mont Ventoux has recently finished the prestigious training programme Lafémis Archidoc. Exciting times are waiting.

Lost down Memory Lane has been screened day-to-day in Belgian cinema’s since September 14th up to October 31th. Such 6,5 weeks theatrical run of a Flemmish documentary is never seen before. The film continues to be screened during the coming months at several locations in Belgium. In The Netherlands Lost down Memeroy Lane is still on the agenda of different arthouse theaters. Meanwhile Flaxman takes another round with some extra big screen screenings following the recent television broadcast on VRT. Flaxman is also starting an international career with upcoming international festivals screenings.
