Eternal Girl, the mid length research documentary of Bram Crols, will open on November 27th in Vilnius, Lithuania, where the film was produced by lead producer ERA Film.

Associate Directors receives VAF production support for the feature documentary FOOD by Walter Grotenhuis, a Kleine Beer production (NL). Associate Directors is minority co-producer. Memphis film, co-producer for Lost on memory lane, receives NFF production support for this feature length production by Klara Van Es.

The AD documentary on Alzheimers Lost on memory lane by director Klara Van Es received production support of the VAF. The documentary will has it Belgian première in September 2010 with a theatrical release.

The AD documentary project Gele vod – zwarte kat has been selected out of 51 projects, for the long list of the VAF-VRT competition. The project receives development support and aims to become selected on the short list to enter production in 2010.

Producer Mark Daems will take part in the regional edition of EURODOC 2009 in Rotterdam, June 2009, with the selected project The end of the desert ?. Mark will also represent the productions of Associate Directors at Sunny Side of the Doc later that month.

Producer Mark Daems was elected chairman of the newly established Flanders Doc. This organization gathers all parties of the small Flanders documentary industry.

The first ECCOS masterclass – with invited filmmakers Audrius Stonys and Arunas Matelis – was a huge success. Not only in numbers (about 80 professionals) but also in the quality of screenings, lectures and discussions.

Filmmaker Bram Crols has been selected to take part in the EX ORIENTE FILM development program organized by IDF. During three sessions over the coming months he will participate in the development of the documentary project Caught in transition, which has been set up as a co-production with Lithuania.

Nollywood Abroad has been selected for the competition section of the Al Jazeera Festival, Doha (Qatar), April 2009 and for the Black International Cinema Festival, Berlin, May 2009. Filmmaker Saartje Geerts will be present at Doha.

ECCOS masterclass will find it’s place in the Open Doek Film Festival at the end of April 2009. Lithuanian filmmakers Arunas Matelis and Audrius Stonys are invited to share their experience in filmmaking. The masterclass is supported by VAF and the local Media Desk. ECCOS present films from a European Cultural Capital, this years edition is on Vilnius. Bram Crols curates ECCOS.

Producer Mark Daems will be present at Leipzig Co-production Forum with the documentary in development The end of the desert ?. The AD documentary Flaxmen by director Jan Lapeire has been selected for pitching at THE FORUM during the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam.

Nollywood Abroad has been selected for the Official Competition of Miradas-Doc 2008 in the First Film category. Nollywood Abroad is an one-hour documentary produced by Associate Directors and directed by Saartje Geerts. The documentary will be screened at Miradas-Doc in the beginning of November.

Building a legend has been selected for the 10th International Documentary Encounters of Colombia in the International Category. Building a legend is an one-hour documentary by Bram Crols. Associate Directors is an associated producer to the production. The documentary will be screened in Bogota in September and during a national tour into ten other Colombian cities during the month of October.

Who’s afraid of Alzheimer’s ? was pitched during Documentary in Europe in Bardonecchia (I) by director Klara Van Es and executive producer Bram Crols. Out of 21 international projects presented, this pitch was awarded for ‘best pitch’ and nominated for ‘best trailer’. The project raised serious interest by various European broadcasters present.
