An archive based documentary about 40 years of cycling by Fons Feyaerts

2013, the 100th edition of the Tour de France. But what if the greatest race of all times has yet not taken place? The King of Mont Ventoux puts five cycling heroes against each other during the Tour de France in an unprecedented race beyond the bounds of time. Crossing the verge of sports, the documentary explores the extraordinary evolution of competitive cycling over the last 40 years. Who will become the king of the Mont Ventoux ? Merckx, Bernard, Virenque, Pantani or Garate ?

About the director

Fons Feyaerts (1954) finished his degree in Artschool Sint-Lucas Brussels and afterwards got a degree in Photography and Film. Throughout his professional life, he worked mostly as a 1st or 2nd assistant director in short- and long feature, industrial- and publicity films for national en international film companies. From 1991 till 1992 he was an editor for the Regional Television Channel RTVL and in 1994 supervisor for the production ‘Elixir d’ Anvers’. In 2005 the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) supported ‘Het Verre België’: a historical travel report along the many namesakes of the Kingdom Belgium and his capital Brussels. He wrote, directed and produced some documentaries-, short- and fiction films: Easy Meat (doc), Florennes Mon Amour (doc), Towerrace (fiction) and The Call of the Sea (doc).
